This is reported by Reuters.

According to the specialists of the Grain Exchange, by August 18, Argentinean farmers had already completed the harvesting of corn for the 2021/22 crop. During the field work, 7.44 million hectares of fields were processed, from which 52 million tons of grain were harvested with a yield of 6.99 t/ha.

“The harvesting rate is in line with the previous year (on average over the past 5 years – 98%), however, the total corn production is 3 million tons lower than the result of 2020/21 MY,” the report says.

Recall that in 2021/22 MY, Argentina also harvested 43.3 million tons of soybeans from an area of 15.52 million hectares. The average yield for the current harvesting campaign was 2.79 t/ha, one of the lowest results for the country over the past 5 years.
