Soybean Planting Rates in Brazil Ahead of Last Year’s Figures

Spread the news!

Brazilian farmers are gradually moving forward in the soybean planting process. According to the monitoring data of Pátria AgroNegócios, as of September 23, in the country, 2% of the area was sown with oilseeds from the plan, which is higher than the results of the previous year ( 1.5% ) and the average for the last 5 years ( 1.8% ). In total, 42.7 million hectares are expected to be allocated for cultivation.

“Weather conditions are considered favorable for field work, especially in the state of Mato Grosso after recent rainfall,” the report said.

Experts expect an increase in the pace of oilseed sowing.

Brazilian farmers spoke about the prospects for soybeans in the new season

According to AgRural’s preliminary forecasts, the gross soybean harvest in Brazil in the new season will be at the level of 148.5 million tons, which is about 23 million tons higher than the final figure for the oilseed crop for the entire 2021/22 MY.

The national agricultural agency Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab) expects even higher production volumes – about 150.4 million tons.

Recall that last season, Brazil faced a serious drought, which prevented farmers from harvesting the expected amount of soybean crop (final figures for 2021/22 MY are approximately 125 million tons).

At the moment, the country is the largest oilseed producer in the world. The tropical climate and relative availability of space make this region ideal for growing not only soybeans but also corn – however, these two crops mainly go abroad, covering most of the needs of the entire world market.
