The United States Has Agreed on the Project of a Floating Marine Nuclear Power Plant

Samsung Heavy Industries has received approval for its energy barge project. Shipbuilding company Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) has received approval from the American Classification and Certification Society ABS. We are talking about the conceptual project of the “energy barge CMSR”.

The CMSR energy barge is a power generation plant using compact liquid-salt reactor technology. It is a kind of nuclear power plant at sea with steam turbine generators, transmitting and switchgears in a floating hull.

It takes about two years to build a floating nuclear power plant.

The energy barge developed by SHI can have between two and eight CMSRs with a capacity of 100 MW. SHI management plans to bring the project to a commercial basis by 2028.
