U.S. farmers began harvesting soybeans late last week, according to experts from the US Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistical Service (NASS USDA).
As of September 18, farmers have already processed 3% of the area occupied by oilseeds from the plan, which is 2% higher than the level of the same date last year and the average value for five years.
This year, according to the official forecast of NASS USDA, soybean production in America will slightly decrease. The second largest producer of this crop in the world is expected to harvest 119.2 million tonnes, 1.6 million tonnes less than in 2021.
As for the grain group, by September 18, corn was harvested at 7% of the plan against 9% by September 18, 2021, and 8% of the five-year average. In addition, farmers still have to harvest another 6% of the spring wheat crop. On a similar date last year, the culture was already fully harvested.
Now the US is also planting winter wheat – the work was carried out on an area of 21% of the plan, which is 1% more than last year’s figure on the same date, and 4% above the average level for five years.
