A detailed assessment by analysts revealed that a significant reduction in the availability of sunflower oil for EU countries would be felt in the near future.

According to experts, stocks of the product in the EU will last for a period of four to six weeks. After this period, bottlenecks of bottled sunflower oil may occur in the European market.

“FEDIOL members are already anticipating and doing their best to mitigate this adverse impact on the food sector. They are already diverting limited quantities of sunflower oil destined for biodiesel production back to the food market.

Remember that from 1 July to 27 February, over 1.3 million tonnes of sunflower oil were imported into the territory of EU countries, 50,000 tonnes more than in the same period last season.
