Due to the empty pipeline, the demand has increased significantly. Apart from this, the need for filtered chana is increasing on a large scale. It is due to the Ramzan festival’s commencement in the third week of March.

Continuous deterioration

The sowing of gram in Maharashtra had increased by 30%, due to which there was an assumption of the vast increase in gram crop since last year, but due to the continuous deterioration of the environment, the production in Maharashtra is expected to decrease by 20%. Due to the decrease in gram production, the gram crop in Maharashtra is estimated to be the same or slightly more than last year.

NAFED currently has a large stock of grams. Apart from that, no one has a supply of grams in the open market, due to which the price of grams has increased in the open market due to the demand for Holi and Ramzan. No actual data is available about this, but it is estimated that 1.3 to 1.7 million tonnes of gram stock are lying with NAFED.

Demand during Ramadan

Due to the empty pipeline of gram and gram dal across the country and the continuous increase in demand during Holi-Ramadan, grams are expected to increase till Holi. After Holi, the pressure of the arrival of grams will increase, and the demand will also decrease, due to which there is a possibility of a decline in the price of grams after Holi.

The rise in Grams is that the export demand is continuously increasing. Apart from this, the sale of Chana by NAFED is expected to stop in March, and the order of all Chana Dal-Besan mills is good.
