Reducing the Export of Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot

The export of Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot has dropped by more than 57 percent in January this year compared to January 2021. The main export destinations of Jumbo Dried Apricot were Azerbaijan and Iraq this month.

According to the Iranian customs statistics, the export of various types of Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot has fallen in the first month of 2022. In January this year, about 64 tons of this crop worth 143,000 USD were exported from Iran. The average price of the exported Jumbo Dried Apricot has been 2.23 USD per kilogram this month.

Most of the exported Jumbo Dried Apricot to Azerbaijan has been high-quality this month. But the export of this product to Iraq has been B and C Grade. In January, 26 tons of Jumbo Dried Apricot worth 72,000 USD were exported to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and 35 tons worth 65,000 USD were shipped to Iraq. The average price of exported Jumbo Dried Apricot to the Republic of Azerbaijan has been 2.77 USD per kilogram, and it has been 1.86 USD per kilogram for the exported crops to Iraq.

The export rate of Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot has significantly decreased in January 2022 compared to the same period last year. In January 2021, 155 tons worth 331,000 USD were exported. The export of this product declined by about 59 percent in terms of weight and by about 57 percent in terms of export value in January 2021 compared to the same time last year.

The most important reason for reducing the export of Jumbo Dried Apricot in January this year is to reduce the amount and the quality of the available product. The harvest rate has declined significantly due to severe drought in the summer. This issue led to a decline in inventory and Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot export in January. Also, the quality of this product has decreased compared to last year. This issue led to a decline in export demand and export rate in January 2022 compared to the same period last year.

Over the past month, the cost of exported Jumbo Dried Apricot remained stable in the Iranian domestic market, despite the lack of market inventory due to a decline in demand. But the price of this product has increased due to the foreign exchange rate reduction against Rial in global markets. Over the past month, the price of foreign currencies has dropped in the Iranian market due to the positive process of talks between Iran and the other members of JCPOA in Vienna, which led to a rise in the price of Jumbo Dried Apricot. Compared to the last month, the cost of Iranian Jumbo Dried Apricot for export has grown by about 4 to 4.4 percent.
