Export Through “Grain Corridor” Has Almost Doubled

Ukraine increased exports by 94% in a week, but traders are worried about the formation of a queue for vessels loading.

During the 31st week of the “Grain Corridor” (February 27 – March 5), 1.0216 million tons of agricultural products went abroad through the seaports of Odesa. This is 94% more than the previous week. More than 70% of this volume was corn, 20% – wheat and 4% sunflower meal. The number of loaded vessels increased by 6 to 20 units, which indicates the difficulties of the grain corridor. Ukraine exported to China, Turkey, Japan, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Kenya, Yemen, Egypt and other countries of Europe, Asia and Africa.

In total, since August 1, 2022, Ukraine has been able to export 23.3 million tons of agricultural products through the “Grain Corridor”.

In fact, the increase in grain exports in February and March was predictable. Traders planned many vessels to take out the products before the end of the grain agreement. This further increased the queue for the inspection of vessels, which is already artificially delayed by Russian representatives.

To improve the logistics in Ukraine, an electronic queue has been introduced to load vessels within the “Grain Corridor”. But many traders complain that the vessels of some companies are loaded faster than others.
