Increase in supply and demand

According to the Iran customs statistics, 464 tons of dried apricots and Gheysi worth 1,008,017 USD (2.17 USD per kilogram) were exported in September this year. The export of this product doubled in September this year compared to the previous month (August 2022). 221 tons of this product worth 519,671 USD (2.36 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in August this year. The exports have increased by 110 percent in terms of weight and by 94 percent in terms of export value in September compared to August this year. The main factor in the increase in exports in September was the arrival of the new year’s product in the market and the increase in supply and demand compared to August this year. The supply increase and the entry of a new product into the market have reduced the average export price of this product by 8 percent.

Better quality this year

The export of this product has grown slightly in September 2022 compared to the same period last year (September 2021). 442 tons of dried apricots and Gheysi worth 913,926 USD (2.07 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in September last year. The export of this product has grown by 5 percent in terms of weight and by 10 percent in terms of export value in September this year compared to last year. The main reason for the increase in the export of this product in September this year is the rise in demand due to the increase in the quality of this year’s product compared to last year. This increase in product quality has led to a 4.8 percent increase in the average price of each kilogram of dried apricots and Gheysi for export in September this year compared to last year.

13 percent increase in average price

Also, 1,428 tons of Iranian dried apricots and Gheysi worth 3,233,165 USD (2.26 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran from the beginning of this year to the end of September (the first nine months of 2022). 1,381 tons of dried apricot and Gheysi worth 2,763,419 USD (2 USD per kilogram) were exported in the first nine months of 2021. The exports have grown by 3.4 percent in terms of weight and by 17 percent in terms of export value in the first nine months of 2022 compared to the same period last year.

The increase in production this year compared to the previous year and the rise in product quality are the most important reasons for the increase in export and the 13 percent increase in the average price of each kilogram of dried apricots and Gheysi in the first nine months of 2022 compared to the first nine months of 2021.
