Market players report that the snowfalls have stopped, and the snow has started to melt, and these weather conditions are perfect for the upcoming new growing season. The blooming period is expected to begin in only 3-4 weeks. This has led to the fact that traders have accelerated the sales of their raw materials, which caused prices to fall further. The price levels of raw materials vary between 80-85 TL/kg, while export price offers reduced up to 300-400 USD/mt this week.

It is added that the price decreases may continue at least until the blooming period, so the traders are slightly in a panic to sell their goods as soon as possible. However, exporters currently do not need to buy raw materials as they have enough stocks to cover their needs for their existing contracts. Since the demands are very weak, they do not need to purchase additional raw materials.

Buyers prefer to wait to make new contracts since they expect the export prices to decrease more in the coming weeks. Although 15 thousand tons of products remain, the decrease in prices is due to the blooming period and low demands. Most of the goods in the market are now in the hands of the traders while growers are sold out.
However, China’s demand for more apricots from Turkey could increase demands if price decreases continue.

Turkey exported 52.764 mt so far, which was 51.576 mt last year during the same period. Last week’s exports were 1305 mt apricots being 1700 mt during the same week of the previous year.
