Market players report that snowfall continues in Malatya, and many businesses are closed for a few days from time to time. However, they also state that exports are still good.

It is added that the purchases of raw materials in the markets are very weak, and therefore, the prices are starting to dissolve. The price levels of raw materials vary between 83-85 TL/kg, but if the weather goes well, the traders who have a large amount of stocks will try to sell the goods as soon as possible so that the prices may decrease even more.

These declines in raw materials are also reflected in export prices, with an average of 100-150 USD/mt lower prices offered this week. In addition, some say that it is not possible for more price decreases because there are only approximately 15 thousand tons of products left in the market and there are still 8 months until the new season. Exporters say that the falling demand results from current prices being a little too high for buyers. It is added that, as with the other dried fruits, it is difficult to make long-term predictions for the time being. Market players also stated that the lack of container availability causes more and more delays in the shipments.

Turkey exported 51.479 mt so far, being 49.876 mt last year during the same period. Contrary to dried raisins, the differences between exports of previous season and this season decrease in apricots. Last week’s exports were 1141 mt apricots, which was 1672 mt during the same week of the previous year.
