Drought and low rainfall have significantly affected the production of Guys and dried apricot and their abundance in the market. The export of Gheysi and dried apricot produced in Iran has grown in weight by about 80 per cent and in terms of export value by nearly 115 per cent in the last month compared to the month before last.

Iran is geographically a dry country with low rainfall. At least in the last two years, the decline in rainfall has been more significant. This event has caused the most damage to the agricultural sector. Nuts such as Gheysi and dried apricot are export products in addition to domestic consumption. This drought has partially damaged these crops. There has been very little rainfall in the last two years. This month (October 23rd to November 21st), the amount of precipitation has been low, so that it will have a significant impact on the growth of crops such as Gheysi and dried apricots and their abundance in the market.

In summer, domestic and export demand for nuts such as Gheysi and dried apricots are reduced. But as the Christmas and New Year holidays in the world get closer and the Yalda night in Iran, export and domestic demand for buying them increases. The amount of export of Gheysi and dried apricot produced in Iran was 752 tons worth 1,834,000 USD in October (September 23rd,2021 to October 22nd,2021). Exports have grown compared to September (August 23rd,2021 to September 21st,2021). It was 417 tons worth 855,000 USD. It has increased in terms of weight by about 80 per cent and in terms of export value by nearly 115 per cent. The rise in exports is due to increased demand as the Christmas and New Year holidays and Yalda night are coming in Iran. The average price per kilogram of Gheysi and dried apricot of Iran for export has increased by about 19 per cent in October compared to September. It has grown from 2.05 USD per kilogram to 2.44 USD per kilogram, which has led to a further increase in the export value of this product.

Decreased production and supply due to drought and increased domestic and export demand due to the coming of Yalda night in Iran and the Christmas and New Year holidays has increased the price of Gheysi and dried apricot in the domestic market of Iran and the international market over the past month. Compared to last month, the cost of Iranian exported Gheysi has increased by about 13.3 per cent, and the price of dried apricot for export has increased by about 10.4 per cent.
