Spices Export Volume Decreased by 14%

Due to relatively high prices for various condiments on the local market and concerns about an impending economic recession, the quantitative export of spices from the nation fell by 14% in the first eight months of the current financial year.

Garlic

The Spices Board’s most recent statistics show that throughout April and November of the fiscal year 2022–23, a total of 35,175 tonnes of garlic were exported from the nation. 13,028 tonnes were exported over the same period the prior year. The quantitative exports of garlic have increased significantly this time around by 170% when compared to the previous fiscal year, as seen by this data.

Fenugreek 

According to the most recent data, the nation exported 26,323 tonnes of fenugreek between April and November 2022. 21,351 tonnes of it were exported during the time period under examination last season. There has been a 23% increase in the quantitative export of fenugreek this year compared to the period under review of the previous financial year.

Turmeric

From April through November 2022, 1,11,968 tonnes of turmeric were exported from the nation. It shipped 1,01,882 tonnes during the examined time last year. According to reports, the quantity of turmeric exported has increased by 10% this year.

The Spices Board’s figures show that 38,765 tonnes of seed were produced in the nation during April and November of the current fiscal year 2022–23. It produced 95,219 tonnes over the same period last fiscal year. This demonstrates that there has been a significant reduction of 59% over this period.

Cinnamon

These numbers show that 5202 tonnes of cinnamon were brought into the country during the first eight months of the fiscal year 2021–22. It has exported 3761 tonnes of goods thus far. In terms of quantity, cinnamon exports have decreased by 28%, as evidenced by this.

Cardamom

This season, there have been fewer cardamom exports as well. 5355 trains of small cardamom were exported from the country between April and November 2022 of the current fiscal year, according to the Spices Board’s most recent statistics. In the settlement period of the previous year, 6354 tonnes of that quantity had been shipped. It is evident that the quantitative export of small cardamom has decreased by 16% throughout the course of this time.

In conclusion, exports of garlic, fenugreek, curry powder/paste, and turmeric have increased throughout this time, while exports of dry ginger, aniseed, cinnamon, and tiny cardamom have decreased.
