World Trade Organization members have agreed that Turkey and Iceland will chair the ongoing negotiations on new global trade rules for agriculture and fisheries, ending nearly six months of deadlock.
The members agreed that Turkey’s representative would chair the agriculture negotiations and agreed to appoint Iceland’s representative to lead negotiations to cut billions of dollars in fisheries subsidies. Cutting subsidies could put fish stocks at risk.
