Since June 26, Russia has completely stopped the registration of a new fleet in the “grain corridor”, which indicates intentions to disrupt food supplies to global markets. The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine made such a statement on its Facebook page on June 30.
“29 vessels, which are supposed to export 1.4 mln tonnes of food mainly for 5 countries in Asia and Africa, in particular China, Egypt, Bangladesh, Türkiye, are blocked by Russia in the territorial waters of Türkiye,” the message states.
Only 2 mln tonnes of food was exported from Ukrainian ports in June. Another 1 mln tonnes are either being loaded or already partially loaded on 13 vessels — the last ones registered in the grain initiative.
It is also noted that for 11 months of the agreement, 45 countries received 32.5 mln tonnes of Ukrainian food.
“The world did not receive an additional 25 mln tonnes due to Russian sabotage. But even with these indicators, according to the UN, it was possible to reduce world food prices by 22%. This is direct evidence that the world needs a grain agreement,” the ministry emphasized.
At the same time, according to the operational data of the Joint Coordination Center, starting from July 1, movement along the “grain corridor” partially resumed. Thus, during July 1-3, three ships left the port of Chornomorsk: REEZE with 43 ths tonnes of sunflower oil for India, RUBY-T with 20 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil for Djibouti and SANTY (WFP) with 40 ths tonnes of wheat for Türkiye
