Wheat is the most important grain in the world. In total, it is grown on about 220 million hectares. Last year, the value of the world wheat market was $127.7 million. According to analytical estimates, this market will grow to more than $169 billion within 5 years.

Ranking of the TOP 10 countries that harvested the most wheat this year.

10th place — Argentina

The country produced about 17.5 million tons of wheat. However, this year’s crop of Argentine wheat was significantly affected by drought. According to preliminary forecasts, the export of wheat from Argentina will decrease by more than 50% to 7 million tons precisely because of the drought in the current season.

9th place — Ukraine

Despite the full-scale war, this year Ukraine was able to enter the top ten in terms of the amount of wheat produced. This year, its production is estimated at 20.5 million tons. However, due to Russian military aggression, Ukrainian wheat exports are estimated to drop by more than 30% to 6.3 million tons.

8th place — Pakistan

Pakistan is expected to produce 26.4 million tons of wheat this year. However, due to the fact that the population of the country exceeds 238 million, there is no question about the export of Pakistani wheat.

7th place — Australia

In Australia, however, the situation is completely different. The country plans to export most of the produced wheat. This year’s Australian harvest is estimated at 33 million tons. Of these, as many as 27 million tons are expected to be shipped to foreign markets.

6th place — Canada

This year’s wheat harvest in Canada should amount to 35 million tons. Along with barley, canola, soybeans and corn, wheat is one of Canada’s major agricultural crops.

5th place — USA

Here, this year’s wheat production is estimated at 44.9 million tons. This is quite a significant indicator, although the main one for the American agricultural sector is corn.

4th place — Russia

The invader country Russia produced about 91 million tons of wheat this year. As many as 43.7 million tons are planned to be exported, but everything will depend on the further development of events surrounding the war in Ukraine, in particular, sanctions against Russia.

3rd place — India

This year, India produced 103 million tons of wheat.

2nd place — European Union

The harvest of 134.7 million tons of wheat makes it possible to put the European Union in second place in the ranking. The largest producers of wheat in the EU are France, Germany, Romania and Poland.
