DALIAN – Market participants reported that due to the large number of Canadian lentils imported to China from March to April, a backlog of lentils was imported. The supply exceeded the demand, resulting in sales difficulties and pressure on the market. The price of organic lentils from China is impacted by the price of organic lentils imported from Canada, which greatly impacts the export of organic lentils produced in China. Therefore, the price of organic lentils produced in China is expected to stay weak during the next weeks. Exporters’ main problem is the rising ocean freight rates, which make export prices still too high, and export speed is slow. Exporters do not expect prices to rise until lentils harvest in 2022.
