The increase in purchases of sunflower seeds to the EU countries contributed to the rapid intensification of exports of processed products in recent months.

Thus, in June-July , the EU countries purchased almost 700 thousand tons of sunflower against 28 thousand tons in the same period last year: in particular, most of the raw materials were imported from Ukraine – 604 thousand tons.

Most of the seeds, in turn, were purchased by Bulgaria and Romania – 392 thousand tons and 127 thousand tons, respectively.

“Thanks to this, some countries have significantly increased the export of sunflower meal. In particular, Bulgaria increased the shipment of the product to 179 thousand tons, which was exported mainly to China, as well as to France, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands and other countries of the bloc,” analysts say.

In general, from June to July, according to Oil World (Germany), 247 thousand tons of meal were sold to foreign markets – more than half (142 thousand tons) were sent to China.
