In Rajasthan, delayed sowing has been done in 60% area, while advanced sowing has been done in 40% area. There was a 20 to 40% loss due to heavy heat in the initial days of the cumin crop. But after that, the loss was reduced due to good cold and advanced sowing.
The arrival of new cumin seeds has remained the same per the assumption, and due to more purchases of export in old cumin seeds, the price of cumin seeds is solid at a higher level. There is an arrival of 3000 bags in Unjha, in which 700 to 800 bags of new cumin and 2200 to 2300 bags of old cumin are arriving. Last year at this time, the arrival of fresh cumin was 2000 to 2500 bags.
Bullies says less yield, bearers talks about condition of the crop
Regarding the Indian cumin crop, the bullies are talking about less yield while the bearers are talking good condition of the crop. After seeing the weather for the next 15 days, the actual estimate of the cumin crop will be available. In fresh cumin, inward pressure will come first in Gujarat because, at present, due to high prices, farmers of Gujarat will sell cumin fast while farmers of Rajasthan will hold on to cumin and will come to sell it at a boom.
Field to the market
Keeping in mind the crop failure in Rajasthan and the decline in sowing in Gujarat, the new cumin crop will be 0.50 million bags. Due to the high price of cumin, the farmers of Gujarat will bring the harvest directly from the field to the market. In contrast, the sporadic arrival of cumin from the Rajasthan crop will start on March 15, and the pressure of arrival will begin after April 8.
Cumin will remain primarily stable in February, so there can be an export business of 50 to 100 containers in cumin. Although the demand for Ramzan has been fulfilled, the need of China is expected to remain low.
The Cumin seeds grade A prices were Recorded at $3,80 per kg FOB.
