China's Soybean Imports Witness Downtrend in Early 2024

Chinese Soybean: Import and export data from January to September

BEIJING: Cumulatively, from January to September, the number of soybean imports remained the same year-on-year. According to customs statistics, in September, China imported 6.88 million tons of soybeans, a month-on-month decrease of 27.5% and a year-on-year decrease of 29.8%; imports amounted to US$4.13 billion, a month-on-month decrease of 25.9% and a year-on-year increase of 10.2%.

China imported 73.99 million tons of soybeans from January to September, a year-on-year reduction of 0.7%; imports amounted to 40.1 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 39.4%.

The export of soybeans was 44,800 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 21.3%; the export value was US$48.81 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.0%. The central source countries of soybean imports are Brazil (accounting for 66.2% of total imports), the United States (accounting for 29.5%), and Argentina (accounting for 2.0%).
