DALIAN: Recently, the euro’s exchange rate has fallen sharply, resulting in increased procurement costs. The decline in purchasing power has led to a drop in the price of export standard organic British red, which is around $30-40 per ton. Demand in the European market weakened and exports fell, resulting in a build-up of inventories among exporters.
Export orders are mainly sent to Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and France. The export volume is decreasing year by year. Orders in the export market lack continuity, and exporters’ replenishment is not active. The domestic market has a backlog of imported British red stocks, which have been severely impacted by imported products.
The US market is not as good as the European market, and purchases have dropped significantly. Of course, this is related to the epidemic, and high shipping costs hinder exports. Standard export prices for organic British red kidney beans ranged from $1.580 to $1.620 a tonne this week. Importers are very concerned about changes in market prices.
