Since the middle of last month, the Ukrainian market has seen an increase in demand prices for sunflower seeds, as follows from APK-Inform analysts’ data.
According to experts, the development of this price trend was facilitated by a decrease in trade activity against the backdrop of restraining sales of sunflower seeds by agrarians, who considered the prevailing demand prices of processors to be too low.
“Prices were also supported by the increase of the NBU fixed hryvnia exchange rate against the US dollar by almost 25% in order to ensure the competitiveness of Ukrainian products on the international market, ” APK-Inform said.
Thus, according to experts, demand prices for oilseeds by August 3 are fixed within the range of 11.800-14.300 UAH/t ( 19.235-23.310 rubles/t ) CPT – approximately 1.800-3.800 UAH/t ) above the level of two weeks ago.
“It should be noted that the increase in the cost of logistics has significantly reduced the geography of purchases of oilseeds because oil refineries have begun to give preference to purchases with minimum logistical leverage. However, prices continued to be pressured by record volumes of oilseed ending stocks and a lack of storage capacity,” analysts said.
