ODESA: For many years, Ukraine has held the lead in the ranking of sunflower producers in the world. But in 2022, due to the war, it will drop to the 3rd place, according to preliminary forecasts. Sunflower sowing area in Ukraine this year is the smallest for the last 10 years – 4.75 million hectares.
It is worth noting that in 2020 Ukraine. had 6.46 million hectares of sunflower, and in 2021 – 6.79 million hectares.
In 2021, Ukraine received a record sunflower harvest – 15.6 million tons.
The harvest, which will be harvested by farmers in 2022, may also be the lowest in the last 10 years – about 10 million tons. However, this figure of the sunflower harvesting area is still a big question, because it will depend on the further development of the situation in the country.
