ODESA: Rapeseeds harvesting 2022 is coming to an end in Ukraine. The harvesting area this year is 9.5% higher than last year.
Even taking into account the losses associated with Russia’s military invasion on the territory of Ukraine, it is expected that the harvest will be better than last year.
The current year is a year of logistical problems caused by the war. In the near future, exports are expected to increase due to the Grain-Corridor opening.
Last year, the start of the active phase of the export season was shifted to August due to the late start of harvesting operations. This year, in July, Ukraine has already exported twice as much as last year. Key buyers of rapeseed are Romania, Poland, and Slovakia.
Also, the current analysis shows that in 2022/23 the profitability of all crops will decrease significantly. However, rapeseed is in a more favourable position against grain crops, which is a good prerequisite for winter sowing. In addition, stable demand from the key buyer – the EU – will also have a positive effect on sowing figures.
