Spread the news!
Aydın, which produces 60% of the world’s dried figs, is experiencing a fruitful harvest season in terms of quality and yield.
Germencik Chamber of Agriculture Deputy Chairman İbrahim Uyar said that the quality and yield were quite good due to the weather conditions going as they wanted. Explaining that they had to cut down some trees that had dried up due to drought last year, Uyar said, “We are living in the best quality period of the last 10 years. We think that if the weather conditions continue like this, it will be much better. Our farmers and producers will have a serious golden year.”
The first dried figs of the season in Aydın were delivered to Aydın Commodity Exchange by the producers with a symbolic price at 350 Turkish Liras per kilo. Aydın Commodity Exchange Chairman Fevzi Çondur stated that they expect a yield of over 75 thousand tons this year and said, “Last year, the wholesale price of dried figs was 31 liras. This year, we expect a price of over 50 liras in the market due to the increase in production costs.”

Turkish Lira depreciated a little and the Usd/TL rate at 18,10 TL (17,96 last week) and Euro/TL rate is at 17,99 TL levels (18,24 last week).
