At present, there is no supplier in the world market for cumin except India, so all the clients will have to buy cumin seeds from India. At present, countries like Egypt, Libya, Yemen etc. are buying Indian cumin from Turkey. Turkey has been importing cumin seeds from India for the last 1 month.
Cumin crop in Afghanistan was estimated to be 7 to 8 Thousand Metric Tonnes, but due to the failure of cumin crop only 4000 to 4500 tonnes is in stock. At present, due to very less production of cumin with Afghanistan, its price is being quoted from $3800 to 3900 per tonne.
In Syria also the cumin crop is very less and there is very little stock left of the new crop by July. The price of Syrian cumin is $3900 to $3950 per tonne. Cumin has not been produced enough to meet the needs.
There are many problems with pesticide in Iran’s cumin as well as the price of Iranian cumin is being said at $ 4500 per ton.
Indian Cumin Price for Gulf and Middle East Countries at present is being quoted $3200 per tonne. In July, China, Bangladesh, Turkey and Pakistan had bought Indian cumin in large quantities for $3100 to 3150 per tonne.
Experts state that the new season of cumin is expected to start a month late due to the delay of one month for all the agricultural crop cycles in India for the last two years. Due to this, the supply of new cumin seeds cannot be found in any country of the world for the next six months.
Domestic demand is also expected to increase due to the upcoming festival of Diwali by October.
According to some traders, due to the mid-autumn festival in September, China’s demand will come out and after these festivals and summer vacation in Europe, America and Western countries will be over, the demand for cumin in these countries will start from the beginning of September. India will remain the only option for these countries therefore India’s Cumin Seeds is expected to remain strong, high and stable for next six months.
