German agricultural producers may slightly expand the area under rapeseed in the 2023/24 season – by 50 thousand hectares, up to 1.1 million hectares. This assessment was published by analysts of the German association of producers of oilseeds and protein-containing crops (Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants, UFOP).
According to experts, the key factor for the cultivation of oilseed production is the high world prices for this crop.
“The main expansion is expected in the northern and southern rapeseed growing areas,” the UFOP says.
At the same time, analysts continue, most of the rapeseed crops are now in good condition , although drought is recorded in some regions of the country .
“However, rainfall will be required in the coming months to increase the yield potential,” the report said.
