Rapeseed production will continue to develop in EU, which is the main oilseed crop for the bloc’s countries. So, according to analysts of Oil World (Germany), this year the gross harvest of oilseeds will increase by 500 thousand tons – up to 19.6 million tons.
“The increase of the harvest will be due to the expansion of areas under crops to the maximum for the last 5 years – 5.94 million hectares as compared to 5.85 million hectares in 2022,” – say the experts.
As experts say, the most active expansion of rape areas will be French and German agrarians – up to 1.31 million hectares (1.23 million in 2021) and 1.15 million hectares (1.08 million), respectively. Production in these countries could also increase to 4.55 million (+1% annually) and 4.4 million tons (+3%), respectively.
“The area under rapeseed is also expected to expand in the Scandinavian countries, in particular Denmark and Sweden, due to which the oilseed crop is also expected to increase in this region,” according to the experts.
Also increase in yield in the Baltic States is expected – from 1.59 million tons to 1.74 million tons.
