Frosts, which were recorded in many European countries in the first half of December 2022, did not cause significant damage to the sowing of winter grain crops in the EU, according to a January report by MARS experts.
At the same time, it is reported that a sharp transition to warmer weather during the New Year period brought some plants out of the state of winter dormancy and led to a loss of frost resistance, which increases their vulnerability in subsequent periods of frosty weather, especially in eastern France, Poland and Germany.
However, at present, most of the crops are in good condition. What’s more, long-term weather forecasts suggest warmer-than-usual temperatures in most of Europe in February.
