Imports of vegetable oil to Azerbaijan in the past calendar year amounted to almost 142.5 thousand tons, which is 9.5% higher than in the 12 months of 2021, analysts of the State Statistics Committee (Goskomstat) told Interfax.
According to representatives of the statistical agency, the total value of oil imported into the country amounted to $ 238.7 million (an increase of 31.6%).
At the same time, during the reporting period, 7.9 thousand tons of these products were also sent from Azerbaijan to foreign markets (-33.5% by 2021). According to experts of the State Statistics Committee, traders received about $ 14.6 million – this is almost 8% lower than the level of January-December 2021.
The statistical department noted that for 12 months of this year, 1.29 million tons of wheat were also imported into the country – this is 12.6% higher than in the same period of 2021.
“At the same time, in December 2022, the volume of imports amounted to 125,039 thousand tons for $ 38 million 541 thousand (in November 2022 – 211,683 thousand tons for $ 68 million). Thus, in December, a ton of wheat was purchased by Azerbaijan for $308.2. In general, the average price for purchased wheat in 2022 was $ 337.6 per ton,” the report said.
