A simple “withdraw” vs. “remain” list of companies doing business with Russia
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a comprehensive invasion against Ukraine under the name of “special military operation”. It has been a year since this invasion began, in which many people lost their lives with the bombing of cities by the Russians without distinguishing between soldiers and civilians.
Many states did not remain silent about this unjust occupation, imposed sanctions against Russia and announced their support for Ukraine. Many Western brands have withdrawn from the country, but these products have been replaced by Russian versions or continue to be sold and imitated under different names.
Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, a professor at Yale University, created a global list of foreign companies doing business in Russia.
Over 1,000 companies have publicly announced they are voluntarily curtailing operations in Russia to some degree beyond the bare minimum legally required by international sanctions — but some companies have continued to operate in Russia undeterred.
“Originally a simple “withdraw” vs. “remain” list, our list of companies now consists of five categories—graded on a school-style letter grade scale of A-F for the completeness of withdrawal. ”
Below is the “withdraw” vs. “remain” list of companies in food and beverage sector
