According to the European Commission, in the first nine months of 2022/23 MY (July-March), EU countries imported 20.8 million tons of corn, which is 71% higher than in the same period of the previous season.
As noted, Ukraine remains the largest supplier of grain to European countries – more than 11 million tons (or 53% of the total supply). In addition, large volumes of corn were purchased from Brazil – 8 million tons (or 38% of total imports).
At the same time, EU countries reduced the pace of corn exports in 2022/23 – as of April 1, 1.9 million tons of grain were shipped to the foreign market (-62% per year).
