Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany Cem Özdemir welcomed the agreement between the EU and several Eastern European countries on agricultural exports from Ukraine.
According to the minister, Kyiv is in dire need of revenues from the sale of agricultural products to finance defense against Russia’s war of aggression, according to the report of DW.
“European solidarity with each other and with Ukraine should not be sacrificed in the short term to individual national interests. This weakens everyone and plays into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin” Özdemir said.
On April 28, the European Commission agreed with Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Poland on the issue of resuming imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.
It should be noted that the construction of the oil pipeline from Ukraine to Poland has not stopped, and at this time Poland is coordinating the path of its laying.
On April 15, Poland banned imports of grain and other food products from Ukraine “to protect the Polish agricultural market from destabilization.”
