European Grain Markets
- Due to May 1, which is a non-working day in Europe, the grain exchange in Paris rested yesterday.
- The wheat situation in France, however, is improving and MATIF futures fell both on Friday and for the week, and eventually extensively for the month.
- The monthly loss of the September wheat futures is €23.75, of the June corn futures €23.75 and of the August rapeseed €32.25.
American Grain Markets
- In Matif’s absence, the Chicago wheat market continued its slide yesterday, which the improving condition of winter crops certainly “helps”.
- After heavy losses last week, the corn and soybean markets are attempting to stabilize this week.
Black Sea Grain Markets
- As usual, when prices on exchanges fall, large importers step up, with Algeria negotiating a still unclear volume of wheat at extremely competitive prices at the end of the week.
- Egypt, the world’s largest wheat importer, has also announced a wheat auction today, seeking supplies for late June and early July.
