According to the National Statistical Agency of Germany, the total planted area of winter grains in the country for the harvest of 2023/24 MY is 5 mln ha, which is 1% higher than the previous season, Reuters reports.

In particular, the country planted 2.9 mln ha of winter wheat (-1% y/y), 1.3 mln ha of winter barley (+5% y/y), and 611.4 thousand ha of other grains (including rye).

At the same time, the area under spring grains is expected to decrease by 11% yoy, to 925.6 thou hectares. In particular, 28.8 thou hectares (-45%) under wheat, 329.3 thou hectares (-11%) under barley, 429 thou hectares (-6%) under corn, and 138.6 thou hectares (-13%) under oats.

As for oilseeds, the area under rapeseed in Germany is forecasted at 1.2 mln ha (+8% y/y).
