Argentine farmers have nearly completed the soybean harvest campaign. By the middle of this month field work was 98% of the plan (13.44 million hectares), which is 4% higher than the previous week. These data were released by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange.
“Only some areas in the southeast of the province of Buenos Aires, where oilseed yields are higher than expected, remain unharvested,” the report said.
By June 15, Argentina had threshed about 20.58 million tons of soybeans at a yield of 1.53 t/ha. It is expected that the gross yield of oilseeds will reach 21 million tons.
Besides, as the experts say, the corn harvest of 2022/23 is still going on in the country. It has already been threshed 38% of the plan – 2.6 million hectares out of 6.94 million hectares. The current grain harvest is estimated at 12.42 million tons with yields of 4.77 tons/ha of the projected 36 million tons.
“Low soil moisture levels in the province of Cordoba could negatively affect corn yields and lead to lower overall corn production in Argentina,” the Exchange summarized.
