Ukrainian farmers, traders, owners of elevators, together with the government are preparing for various measures in the event of a complete stoppage of the grain corridor.
There are several strategies:
- Expanding the carrying capacity of the Danube region and increasing grain transshipment opportunities there.
- Additional transit points and dry ports on the western border with Poland and Romania are also being put into operation.
- The state budget for 2023 provides also 20 billion UAH for the potential insurance of vessels with Ukrainian grain, which will be ready to continue their work in the absence of a grain corridor.
It is very important that insurance companies will continue the insurance of war risks.
A possible solution to the problem may be the creation of a system of military escort convoys in the Black Sea. It may be based on the experience of passing through the pirate zone in 2009-2012 when warships accompanied the convoys of civilian vessels.
Ukrainian government expressed hope that, despite all the difficulties with exports, in financial terms, the indicators of the export of agricultural products will be close to last years indicators.
