According to the monitoring of the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, as of July 5, Argentina harvested corn on 3.56 mln ha, which is 52% of the planned area. The current harvesting rate generally caught up with the previous year’s results (53%), but is still lower than the average of the last 5 years (64%).
It is noted that 17.4 mln tons of grain have been harvested so far, with an average yield of 4.89 t/ha.
Currently, the field works are concentrated in the central and northern parts of the country, while in the southern regions of Argentina, the harvesting campaign is delayed by heavy precipitation, which can also reduce the grain yield.
However, the precipitation slightly improved the condition of the grain crops and as of July 5, their share in good and excellent condition increased from 8% a week earlier to 9%, in satisfactory condition – from 41% to 44%, and in poor and very poor condition – decreased from 51% to 47%.
