Moldova’s agrarians expect to harvest a good wheat crop this year – more than 1.2 mln tons, thanks to favorable weather conditions in spring, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Moldova, IPN press agency reports.
Thus, according to the Ministry, in the spring there was enough precipitation in the wheat-producing regions, which had a favorable impact on the development of the grain crops. Therefore, the yield is expected at the level of 3.5-3.6 t/ha on the sown area of 351 thsd ha.
At the same time, local experts advise farmers not to rush to sell wheat at low prices now, as prices on the global market may rise further due to the difficult situation in the Black Sea wheat segment.
As a reminder, over the past week, wheat quotations on Euronext increased by 15.5 euros per tonne to 247.25 euros per tonne as of July 21.
