Egypt’s state food procurement agency GASC has contracted almost 40,000 tonnes of sunflower oil during the tender, reported by Nasdaq.
In particular, 12 thousand tonnes of the product was purchased from Green Suppliers at a price of $0.99 per kg. In addition, GASC contracted another 12 thousand tonnes of sunflower oil from the operator TOI at the same price.
Oliva AD and Aston Agro purchased 10,000 tonnes and 5,000 tonnes of sunflower oil from Oliva AD and Aston Agro respectively at $0.99 per kg.
The delivery of these products is scheduled for the period from 20 September to 8 October this year.
Sunflower oil accounts for about half of the consumption of edible oils in Egypt, which is used daily by most households. Domestic production of sunflowers is low, so private processors focus on imported raw materials.
