In 2022/23 MY, Poland exported 17.7 mln tonnes of grain, which is the record annual figure for the country. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the National Center for Agricultural Support of Poland Marcin Wronski, reports PAP.plPAP.pl.

According to the official, this volume was mainly formed by wheat (5.7 million tons) and corn (4.3 million tons).

The volume of exports of these grains was higher than in the previous season. Thus, the volume of wheat shipments almost doubled, and corn – by 34%,” said Mr. Vronsky.

He also emphasized that the record figure was achieved in the face of excess domestic grain stocks and “an influx of grain from Ukraine“.

Under the current circumstances, Poland had to urgently start setting up the logistics and transportation infrastructure, introduce additional payments for farmers and achieve a ban on grain imports from Ukraine, while only allowing transit to third countries,” the expert said.
