Ukrainian farmers do not plan to change the sown areas under winter crops compared to the previous season. But areas under rapeseed may increase by almost 40% to a record 1.9 million hectares.
Such results arose on the basis of a survey on the preparation of agricultural producers for the sowing campaign for the 2024 harvest. It was conducted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
In particular, almost half of the Ukrainian farmers (45%) do not plan to significantly reduce the area planted with winter crops. At the same time, 38% of the interviewed entrepreneurs can increase the sown area. 14% of farmers said that they will not sow winter crops this year.
According to survey data, the structure of winter crops may undergo changes. In particular, farmers will reduce the share of wheat and barley. Respectively, they will increase the area under winter rapeseed.
In general, the acreage under winter crops may increase by 0.5 million hectares or by 8% compared to last season. Areas under rapeseed may increase by almost 40% to a record 1.9 million hectares.
This year, it was evident that the share of sown oil crops has increased. This was primarily due to expensive logistics. This trend will definitely remain for the next season.
