The European Association of Vegetable Oil Producers (FEDIOL) has calculated that in August 2023, EU oilseeds extraction plants processed almost 3.26 million tons of oilseeds (+0.03 million tons compared to the previous month). Overall, this figure rose to 25.95 million tons since the beginning of the year (January-August), compared to 24.8 million tons in the same period of 2022.
As for rapeseed, local enterprises processed 1.73 million tons of this crop in August (+15.5% vs. July 2023) and 12.65 million tons at the end of the first 8 months (+12% vs. January-August 2022).
At the same time, soybean processing volumes sagged last month – by about 11% to July, to 1.12 million tons. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 7% decline to 9.44 million tons.
Sunflower also shows a month-to-month decline. For further processing, oil extraction plants received 409 thousand tons of sunflower seeds in August 2023, which is almost 14% lower than the month before. At the same time, since the beginning of the year the indicators have increased – by 15%, to more than 3.85 million tons.
