Canada Increased Wheat Exports in September With Rapid Harvesting

Canada increased wheat exports by more than 50% in September, as favorable weather conditions allowed for faster harvesting of the grain, Reuters reports.

However, according to Stuart Bergman, the chief economist of Export Development Canada, active wheat exports in the month may slightly reduce the rate of shipments in the following months.

According to Statistics Canada, the country’s trade surplus in September rose to C$2.04 billion (€1.38 billion), compared to a Reuters poll that indicated a C$1 billion (€0.68 billion)surplus. Total exports from Canada in September increased by 2.7% in monetary terms and by 0.4% in volume. The August surplus was also revised upward to C$949 million from the previously estimated C$718 million (€486,6 million).
