DALIAN – According to the latest survey by market participants in the Chinese producing areas, the planting of organic buckwheat increased in 2021. The planting area of organic buckwheat in Inner Mongolia has increased by 20% compared with 2020, with Shaanxi and Shanxi being the same as last year.
Export prices declined this week due to weak summer slack orders, down USD 65 per ton compared to mid-April when the prices reached the top of almost USD 1400. This week quotations are around USD 1.310 /mt FOB Dalian Exporters forecast the new buckwheat crop at around USD 1.150 /mt in 2021.
If the shipping markets in Europe and the United States improve, they will lead to new export opportunities. Currently, exporters have received feedback on inquiries from buyers in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Italy, waiting for the arrival of the new crop.
