French company CMA CGM is increasing the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal, joining Maersk in returning to the region following the efforts of an international coalition to prevent attacks on ships in the Red Sea, MarineLink reports.

In particular, CMA CGM said it was conducting an “in-depth assessment of the security landscape in the region”.

“We are currently developing plans to gradually increase the number of ships transiting the Suez Canal. We are constantly monitoring the situation and are ready to immediately review and adjust our plans if necessary,” CMA CGM said in a statement.

It is also reported that the German container shipping group Hapag-Lloyd will decide on December 27 whether it will resume flights through the Red Sea.

As a reminder, the Danish company Maersk has announced that it is preparing to resume shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, citing the deployment of a US-led military operation aimed at ensuring trade security in the region.
