In the first week of 2024, Ukraine exported 1.03 million tons of grains. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, this is almost 180,000 tons more than in January 2023.
In total, 19.4 million tons of products went to foreign markets from the beginning of season 2023/24. This is 18% less than in season 2022/23 — 23.5 million tons.
In particular, as of January 8, Ukrainian exported:
- wheat — 7.8 million tons (of which in January 2024 — 208 thousand tons)
- corn — 10.3 million tons (740 thousand tons)
- barley — 1.15 million tons (80 thousand tons)
Since the end of the previous week, trade on the Ukrainian market began to gradually recover. Exporters are showing good demand and it gives good support to prices.
The situation in the wheat market remains unchanged. The demand of exporters is mainly focused on the feed quality grain, and the supply of milling wheat is quite restrained.
The latest indications for milling wheat are:
- CPT Danube ports – 180 $/t or 165 €/t
- CPT Odesa ports – 180-185 $/T or 165-169 €/t
Demand supports corn prices
Activity in the Ukrainian market continues to recover, and demand from exporters provides support for corn prices in the direction of ports. However, buyers are reluctant to increase prices.
As of January 8, Ukrainian corn is traded at the level of:
- CPT Danube ports — 165-170 $/t or 150-155 €/t
- CPT Odesa ports — 155-165 $/t or 142-151 €/t
