Türkiye Increased Tomato Exports by 43%

Exports of tomatoes from Türkiye in 2023 increased by 42.8% compared to the previous year, reaching €493.2 million (16.2 billion Turkish liras), according to the Southeast Anatolian Exporters’ Associations (Türkiye), West Observer reports.

In total, Türkiye exported 588.42 thousand tons of tomatoes to 52 countries, including Romania, Ukraine, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Denmark, Azerbaijan, Qatar and Russia.

Romania was at the forefront of the countries to which Turkey exported the most in 2023, with €84.24 million worth of goods. It is followed by Ukraine with €59.16 million, then Poland with €51.88 million and Germany with €49.43 million.

The association noted that the expansion of tomato export markets will encourage entrepreneurs to create new greenhouses, and increased investment will contribute to both employment and growth of the national economy.

We remind you that tomatoes are heat-loving plants, so the success of outdoor cultivation will directly depend on climatic conditions – the warmer the weather in summer, the higher the yield and the less susceptible the plants will be to various diseases.
