Market prices of dried figs are on the rise, as in other dried fruits, but prices are still not stable. That’s why the exporter cannot give long-term prices to its new customers. It seems that the weather going above the seasonal norms will have a bad effect on the fig trees. This shows that the harvest for the new season will be low and therefore the prices will be high. While the local market continues its activity due to the approach of Ramadan, exports continue in their normal course.
Although the harvest has been low for the last two years, exports increased by 22% in 1 year. Thanks to the TURQUALITY Project that 6 food unions under the EIB (Exporters Association) have been carrying out in the USA market for 5 years, Turkish dried fig exports to the USA increased by 42% from 35 million dollars to 50 million dollars. Dried figs worth 29 million dollars were exported to France and 28 million dollars to Germany.
