As of April 8, a total of 852.1 thousand hectares of the planned 5.601 million hectares were sown with spring grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine.
It is noted that in terms of crops, the dynamics of sowing looks as follows:
- Spring wheat – 118.3 thousand ha, or 48.1% of the plan (246.1 thousand ha).
- Spring barley – 543.2 thousand hectares, or 66.4% of the plan (818 thousand hectares).
- Peas – 119 thousand hectares, or 74.4% of the plan (159.9 thousand hectares).
- Oats – 62.4 thousand ha, or 38.4% of the plan (162.7 thousand ha).
- Other grain and leguminous crops – 9 thousand hectares, or 10% of the plan (92.4 thousand hectares).
Ukrainian farmers have also started sowing buckwheat and millet.
Regarding oilseed crops, Ukraine plans to have 5.288 million hectares of sunflower and 1.99 million hectares of soybeans. For the reporting date, only a few thousand hectares of both oilseeds were sown.
Sowing of sugar beets is also in progress – 58.7 thousand hectares, or 23% of the plan (256.5 thousand hectares) have been sown.
